7 Denver Accident Mistakes You Should Never Make!

Bad Mistake #2, Wrong Doctor
Don’t go to the wrong clinic! Your family doctor or some “doc in a box” may not be a good choice after an accident. Your ordinary doctor may assume the pain you’re experiencing will get better with rest and medication. Advil or Ibuprofen slow down healing in cases of whiplash and do nothing to realign or rehabilitate the spine and nervous system. Delaying necessary care this way can create a crisis situation later on. Don’t go to just any clinic.

Bad Mistake #3, Waiting To Be Told What To Do
Accident related injuries are real and debilitating. In over half the cases of serious crashes, victims never fully recover. Don’t become a sad statistic. No one can see your injuries and no one will feel the pain but you. There is nothing noble or beneficial about suffering in silence. Don’t wait for someone to come along and explain what to do next. Bad Mistake #4, Using Heat
Heating pads are worthless after accidents and can pool fluids deep in the joints to create chronic pain patterns.
Use ice initially from 5-20 minutes at least 3 times a day. Use a towel between yourself and the ice to protect your skin.
Bad Mistake #5, Cervical Collars
Wearing a neck collar is like injecting glue into the joints of the neck. It’s not a good idea unless you’ve been diagnosed with a broken neck, or have some other doctor supported reason to wear one.
Using one can lead to wasting of the muscles that hold the neck in proper alignment and cause bone thinning. Long term use of cervical collars leads to psychological dependency as well.
Bad Mistake #6, Overly Concerned About Cost
Insurance pays for care at our center. It’s against the law for them to “jack up your rates” if you use insurance, unless you were at fault.
